Zoo Info Day

On Thursday I got to go to the Irvine Park Zoo. But this time, I went with my friends to check out the stuff behind the scene. The zoo really isn’t open yet. It is too cold for most of the animals.

I learned about the animals that are hanging out inside at the zoo. Some are residents all the time. Some of them are on loan from other zoos. We learned about the food that they eat. We even saw the area that is used as a kitchen. Where they get food ready for the animals.

I also got to meet and pet Lenny. He is a zoo ambassador. He is a skunk. But he is almost all white. You can still see the stripes, sort of.

We saw the bear, Honey. She was sleeping. It is still time for her to kinda hibernate. We also learned that hyenas are part of the cat family. I still think they look more like a dog.

I had a lot of fun. I am looking forward to going to the zoo again.

You are lucky to have the opportunity to learn behind the scenes of the zoo. It is our favorite place to visit when the weather is warmer.
